The York College athletics program held its 35th annual awards dinner Monday evening and handed out a number of awards to some deserving student-athletes.  Marcel Esonwune of the men’s basketball team and Kadisha Wickham of the women’s basketball team and track and field team were named the 2010 York College Athletes of the Year.

NEW YORK, NY— The York College softball team saw its season come to a close Wednesday afternoon, as they fell to Hunter College, 11-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference Championships.

JAMAICA, NY— For the first time since 2004, the York College softball team has qualified for the CUNY Athletic Conference playoffs.  The Lady Cardinals will take on Hunter College on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Randall’s Island Field #12.

QUEENS, NY – Freshman pitcher Thessaly Belizario threw a no-hitter in both ends of a doubleheader, slammed two home runs, including a grand slam, and collected eight RBI’s to lead the York College softball team to wins of 23-0 and 13-1 over conference-rival City Tech on Thursday afternoon.

NEW YORK, NY— The York College softball team dropped a pair of games to Hunter College, losing by scores of 9-1 and 14-0 respectively in a CUNY Athletic Conference contest Wednesday afternoon.  The Lady Cardinals were held to two just two hits combined by Hawks pitching.

PURCHASE, NY— The York College softball team pounded out a combined 30 hits and 40 runs and Thessaly Belizario tossed a no-hitter in game one en route to a sweep of the College of New Rochelle Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Cardinals took game one by a score of 22-0 and won game two 18-3.

There have been a number of changes to the York College softball schedule.  The doubleheader against Hunter College which was postponed last Saturday has been rescheduled for Monday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m. at Randall’s Island Field #11.  The game scheduled for this Thursday, April 22 against the College of New Rochelle has been moved to Saturday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. at Purchase College.  The game scheduled for Friday against the College of Mount Saint Vincent will be moved to a date and time to be announced.

BRONX, NY— The York College softball team picked up a pair of wild victories over conference-rival Lehman College, defeating the Lightning by scores or 14-8 and 18-16 on Thursday evening.   The doubleheader took nearly six hours to complete and saw a combined 56 runs, 45 hits and 43 walks.

QUEENS, NYSt. Joseph’s College (LI) pounded out 16 hits in game one and 19 hits in game two en route to a sweep of the York College softball team Wednesday afternoon.   The Golden Eagles defeated York 15-7 in game one and 22-4 in game two.
