Brooklyn College Sweeps York Invitational

BRONX, NY— The Brooklyn College men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the Second York College invitational of the season Sunday morning. The men’s team (56 points) and the women’s team (57) points bested fields of 11 teams and ten teams respectively to earn the win.
In the individual results, Alex Medina of Queensborough placed first in the men’s 5k race (16:51.96) and Angie Iribarne of Mount Saint Vincent finished first in the women’s 5k race (20:04.58).
Leading the way for York was
Kenny Jacquet (St. Albans, NY/ Campus Magnet) (17:32.79) and
Taneisha Renaud (Queens, NY/ Jamaica) (21:25.91) who placed third and seventh in their respective races. Renaud’s time was also a personal best.
Alexandra Nkrumah (Brooklyn, NY/ Midwood) placed 15th and also put together a personal-best time in the 5k (22:51.81), besting her previous best of 23:10.38. Freshman Alexis Schloss (Brooklyn, NY/ Midwood) continued her strong rookie season, placing 16th in 22:56.64.
Also running a solid race was
Cavohdyah Ben-Levi (Jamaica, NY/ Campus Magnet) (19:04.00) who placed 21
st on the men’s side.
York will compete at the City University of New York Athletic Conference Championships (CUNYAC) at Van Cortlandt Park next Sunday. The women’s meet will go off at 9:30, with the men’s race to follow shortly after.
