York Women Finish Second; Men Seventh at Hunter Invitational

BRONX, NY— The York College women's cross country team placed three runners in the top ten en route to finishing second at the Hunter College Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday morning.  The men's team, meanwhile, earned a seventh place finish. 

 

York senior Taneisha Renaud placed fifth overall in the 6k race with a time of 28:48, while sophomore Alexis Schloss came in just behind her in sixth place with a time of 29:00.  Alexandra Nkrumah finished ninth with a time of 29:31.   The Lady Cardinals tallied 80 team points, coming in behind Baruch who won the race with 59 points. 

 

On the men's side, Kenny Jacquet was the top finisher for York coming in 21st place in the 8k race with a time of 32:34.  Freshman Tarik Weekes placed 25th with a time of 33:09.  SUNY Maritime won the event with 56 points, while York finished with 163 points.  

 

Lizzy Mahoney and Chris Guerrero of Hunter College won the women's race and men's race respectively.

 

York will race at the CUNYAC Championships on October 25 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
