York Looking for Upset of CCNY in CUNYAC Quarterfinals

FLUSHING, NY— The pairings for the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball tournament have been announced and the York College women’s volleyball team, the seventh seed, will take on the second-seeded CCNY on Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m.  The Cardinals will go on the road to CCNY in hopes of pulling the upset.

 

The other quarterfinal match-ups are listed below.

#3 Hunter vs. #6 John Jay
#4 Lehman vs. #5 Staten Island 

SEMIFINALS, Friday, November 6, The City College of New York

#1/#8 winner vs. #4/#5 winner, 3 pm
#2/#7 winner vs. #3/#6 winner, 5 pm


CHAMPIONSHIP, Friday, November 6, The City College of New York

NEW YORK, NY— The York College athletics program placed third in 2009-10 Commissioner Cup standings, earning its highest finish ever.  The Cardinals recorded 80 points thanks in part to winning five CUNYAC championships this past school year. Baruch College won the title, scoring 143 points, while Hunter College was second with 80 points.  The winner was announced at the Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete dinner at Baruch College Wednesday evening.

 

Senior track and field and cross country star, Alexandra Nkrumah, and senior setter, Charlina Gallegos, from the women’s volleyball team were among the York College athletes who were honored at the dinner for excelling on the field of play and in the classroom.

JAMAICA, NY—On a night where she was honored during her final home game, Charlina Gallegos recorded her 1,000th career assist as the York College women’s volleyball team defeated Brooklyn College 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-20) in front of a large home crowd Tuesday evening.
