Women's Basketball Routs College of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY— Four players scored in double figures as the York College women’s basketball team went on to rout the College of New Rochelle 78-33 on Tuesday evening to improve to 2-0 on the year.  

 

Sophomore Kadisha Wickham led all scorers with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Junior Shayna Smith scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench and Vanessa Rivera and Maimouna Dabo each netted ten points. 

 

The York defense forced 44 turnovers, which they converted into 37 points.  The Lady Cardinals also held New Rochelle to 27 percent shooting on the night. 

 

The game was never in doubt as the Lady Cardinals started the game with a 31-2 run which was capped off by a jumper from Chiquita Greene at the 9:18 mark of the first half.  York took a 49-11 lead into the locker room.  The Lady Cardinals emptied the bench in the second half and every player on the roster was able to record at least two points. 

 

York will take on Farmingdale State College on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the SUNY New Paltz/ Rino’s Pizza Tip-Off Tournament.
