Shanine Bogan

JAMAICA, NY— York College senior Shanine Bogan has been named to the 2009 CUNY Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball All-Star Team.

Bogan, a middle blocker, put together a phenomenal senior year for the Lady Cardinals.  Bogan led the team in both kills (119) and blocks (41).  Her 0.56 blocks per game average ranked fourth in the CUNYAC and her .198 hitting percentage was tenth.

Bogan is the first York student-athlete to be named to the All-Star team in women’s volleyball since Renee Thompson was named to the first-team in 2007.

The Lady Cardinals finished with a record of 7-20 and lost to CUNYAC Champion CCNY in the quarterfinals.

Floriano Garo of CCNY was named CUNYAC Player of the Year.  Melinda Santiago, Posey Wilson and Allison Stack of Baruch College were named Rookie of the Year, Libero of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively. Jillian Acevedo claimed the Sportsmanship Award.
