York Swimming Drops Tri-Meet to Sarah Lawrence and FDU-Florham

JAMAICA, NY— The York College men’s and women’s swim team fell to Farleigh Dickinson University at Florham, while the women also lost to Sarah Lawrence College in a tri-meet held at York College Thursday evening. The women lost 94-28 to FDU-Florham and 85-37 to Sarah Lawrence College. The men lost by a score of 130-97 to FDU-Florham.
Women’s Recap
Sophomore Averie Mohammed turned in a big night, despite the loss. Mohammed won both the 100-free and the 50-butterfly, while also finishing second in the 50-free. Junior Ayanna Bennett took first place in the 50-backstroke and Chrisviany Delarosa won the 50-breaststroke.
Men’s Recap
For the men, senior James Kearney won two events, the 50-backstroke and the 100-breaststroke to lead York. Sophomore Andrew Phillips finished second in four events: the 100-free, 100-IM, 50-free and 50-butterfly.
The men fall to 1-3 on the season and the women drop to 1-5. Both teams will be idle until after the new year. The teams will visit the College of Staten Island on January 8th at 6 p.m.
