Jaime Hay- Elysee Vilsaint-York College

ECAC Release

JAMAICA
, NY— York College soccer standout Elysee Vilsaint has another award to place on his mantle. The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2009 Division III All-Metro Region Men’s Soccer Team and Vilsaint has been named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year. York freshman defender Jaime Hay was also named to the first team.

Vilsaint, who was also a first-team selection, shares the award with Fabio Santibanez of SUNY Old Westbury.

Vilsaint, a junior forward, once again had a tremendous season to lead York to its sixth CUNYAC Championship in school history. The forward led the conference with 17 goals and 41 points.  Vilsaint also ranks third in the country in points per game (2.47) and third in goals per game (1.00). In addition, he was named CUNYAC Player of the Year and MVP of the 2009 CUNYAC Championships after recording three goals and four assists in three contests.

Hay, a freshman, earned First-Team status thanks to his phenomenal play on defense.  Hay anchored a defense that ranked second in the conference in goals against average (1.35). The Cardinals also recorded eight shutouts during the season.

York advanced to the NCAA tournament where they were eliminated by Stevens Institute of Technology by a score of 2-0 in the opening round.

The Cardinals, the defending CUNYAC champions, will have a different look this season as they begin their title defense in 2010.  York was far-and-away the top offensive team in the CUNYAC last season, but will be without the nation’s third-leading scorer, Elysee Vilsaint, in 2010.

Instead, the Cardinals hope their defense can lead them to their fourth straight title game
