York Tennis Tops City Tech, 7-2; Earns CUNYAC Playoff Berth

JAMAICA, NY— In a game that decided the last seed for the CUNY Athletic Conference Playoffs, the York College men’s tennis team earned a 7-2 win over City Tech on Saturday.  With the win, the Cardinals earn the eighth and final seed in the playoffs and will visit the College of Staten Island on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.   

 

The Cardinals swept the doubles matches and won four of six singles to take the playoff-clinching victory.

JAMAICA, NY – The York College men’s tennis team finished up regular season play Saturday, falling to NYU-Polytechnic by a score of 7-2. 

 

York picked up one win in both singles and doubles.  At third doubles, Erick Giron and Kenan Kajtezovic earned an 8-5 victory, while Charlton Distin won 7-6, 6-4 at fourth singles.

JAMAICA, NY – Ayman Busat was the lone winner for York on Sunday as the Cardinals fell to Yeshiva University 8-1 in a non-conference match. 

 

Busat won a third-set tiebreaker over Yeshiva’s Joseph Itkis at first singles—7-6, 6-7 10-5— to notch York’s only win of the day. The Maccabees took the remaining five singles matches and swept doubles play.
