York Men Finish Third; Women Sixth at Queensborough Invitational
York Cross Country

BRONX, NY— Kenny Jacquet finished third to lead the York College men’s cross country team to a third place finish at the Queensborough Invitational, while Taneisha Renaud finished sixth to lead the women’s team to a sixth place finish at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, Sunday morning. Jacquet navigated the 8k course in a time of 31:37, while Renaud ran the 6k course in 29:22.

 

The men’s team finished with 120 team points, while Brooklyn College won the race with 69 points, followed by John Jay with 75 points.  Pratt Institute won the women’s race with 58 points.

 

Freshman Ronel Phillip had a strong meet for the men, finishing 15th overall with a time of 33:57 and junior Cavohdya Ben-Levi came in right behind in 16th place (34:38).   Alexandra Nkrumah earned a tenth place finish on the women’s side finishing the race in 30:03.00. 

 

The Cardinals will host the York Invitational on Sunday at Van Cortlandt park beginning with the women’s race at 10:00 am.

If you’re interested in playing either women’s tennis or running cross country during the 2010 school year be sure to attend the upcoming interest meetings. 

 

The women’s tennis team will hold interest meetings on August 6, 9 and 13 at noon in the gymnasium, while the cross country team will hold its meeting on August 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the gym.

 

All those interested in competing should attend these meetings.  For more information, contact the athletics office at 718-262-5101.

10.25.09 | Women's Cross Country

BRONX, NY— The York College women’s cross country team finished second at the 2009 CUNY Athletic Conference Championships Sunday morning at Van Corltlandt Park.  The Lady Cardinals finished with 56 points, just four points behind champion Baruch College.  It was the best finish at the CUNYAC Championships for the Lady Cardinals since 2006.

BRONX, NY— The York College women’s cross country team placed three runners in the top ten en route to finishing second at the Hunter College Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday morning.  The men’s team, meanwhile, earned a seventh place finish.

BRONX, NY– The York College men’s and women’s cross country teams put together one of their best performances of the season Sunday. Both teams placed third at the Brooklyn College Invitational.  The men’s team finished with 88 points, behind Drew University (41 points) and John Jay College (66 points), while the women’s team tallied 71 points, coming in just behind host Brooklyn College (61 points) and Drew University (64 points).

BRONX, NY— Taneisha Renaud finished in eight place, running the 6k race in a time of 27:59 to lead the York College women’s cross country team to a fourth place finish at the College of Staten Island Invitational Sunday morning.  The men’s team finished tenth overall.
