BRONX, NY— The York College women's cross country team finished in second place in the 6k race, while the men's team placed sixth in the 8k at the York Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park on a rainy morning in the Bronx Sunday.
It was a total team effort for the women's team, who did not have a single runner place in the top ten but still managed to place second (107 points) in a large field. The Cardinals were led by Taneisha Renaud (29:26) and Alexis Schloss (29:29), who finished 13th and 14th respectively.
For the men, Kenny Jacquet led the way with a ninth place finish in a time of 32:09. The Cardinals finished with 192 points.
Queens College swept the event, winning both the men's (44 points) and women's (100 points) race.
York will run at the Staten Island Invitational on Sunday at 10:00 am.
