Baruch Tops Lady Cardinals, 83-67

JAMAICA
, NY— Baruch College proved to be too much for the York College women’s basketball team Monday night, as the Bearcats defeated the Lady Cardinals 83-67 in a CUNY Athletic Conference match-up.

 

Five players scored in double-figures for the Bearcats, led by Kristen Sells with 13 points.  Kalea Davis added 12 points, while Christina Kelly netted 11.  York’s Kadisha Wickham led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds, picking up her fourth straight double-double in the process.  Elizabeth Padilla and Maimouna Dabo each added 15 points and Niya Jarvis finished with 14. 

 

The Bearcats were never really threatened in the game.  With 14:37 to play in the half and Baruch holding a 17-9 lead, the Bearcats opened up a big run, scoring 12 unanswered to take a 29-9 lead.  Baruch never looked back the rest of the way.  York would only get as close as 13 points from that point on.   

 

With the loss, York falls to 6-8, 1-3 in the CUNYAC, while Baruch improves to 11-3, 4-0 in CUNYAC play.  The Lady Cardinals will return to action on Wednesday when they host City Tech at 6:00 p.m.
