Several York Student-Athletes Among NCAA Basketball Leaders

, NY— The most recent NCAA Division III basketball statistical rankings were released January 11th and several York College student-athletes are near the top of the nations elite.  The most prominent student-athlete is Marcel Esonwune who leads the country in both rebounds (15.0 rpg) and blocks (3.7 bpg). 

 

In addition, senior shooting guard Nicholas Hamilton-Lopez ranks 50th in the nation in scoring (20.1 ppg), fourth in three-point field goals (4.0 per game), and 39th in three-point field goal percentage (42.1 %).  Senior point guard, Ryan Exum is 32nd in the country in assists (5.2 apg) and 33rd in steals (2.6 spg).   

 

On the women’s side, sophomore center Kadisha Wickham ranks 14th in the country in rebounds (12.4 rpg), 13th in steals (4.0 spg) and 50th in points (17.7).  Senior guard Chiquita Greene is 26th in the country in steals (3.8 spg).

 

The men stand at 10-5 on the season, while the women are 6-8.  Both teams will host City Tech on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. for the women’s game, with the men’s to follow shortly after.

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women's basketball team cruised to a 70-41 victory over Medgar Evers College on Friday night. 
 
York forced 48 turnovers, which resulted in 46 York points and held the Cougars to just 29 percent shooting on the night.   On offense, York shot a strong 46 percent from the field.
