Wickham's Nets 31 Points in Win over City Tech

JAMAICA, NY— Sophomore forward Kadisha Wickham scored a career-high 31 points, grabbed 15 boards and added seven steals to lead the York College women’s basketball team to an 80-64 victory over conference-rival City Tech on Wednesday evening.

 

Wickham has now recorded five consecutive double-doubles and has bested her previous career-high in points twice in the last week.  Also contributing for York was Niya Jarvis who added 15 points and 11 boards. Maimouna Dabo and Elilzabeth Padilla each added 12 points apiece as the Cardinals improved to 7-8 (2-3 CUNYAC). 

 

The Lady Cardinals got off to a sluggish start, falling behind 21-16 after a lay-up by the Yellow Jackets Barbara Richards with 7:57 to play in the first half.  York regrouped, however, and went on a 15-3 run following the Richards basket to take a 31-24 advantage.  York would take a 34-25 lead into halftime.  In the second half, York continued to extend its lead, going up by as many as 23 points after a Jarvis lay-up with 6:23 to play.  The game was never in doubt in the second half. 

 

City Tech was led by Daquana Miller who finished with a team-high 23 points and five steals.  Christine Jackson registered a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing ten rebounds.  With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-10, 0-5 in the CUNYAC. 

 

York will host John Jay College on Monday at 2:00 p.m.
