Lady Cardinals Cruise to Win over John Jay
Wickham Nets Eclipses 30 Points for Second Straight Game

Box Score

JAMAICA
, NY— The York College women’s basketball team cruised to an 87-69 victory over conference-rival John Jay College in a matinee contest on Monday.  Kadisha Wickham once again eclipsed her previous career-high in points, finishing with 32, while also grabbing 11 boards and swiping six steals.

The Cardinals evened up their record at 8-8, 3-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, while the Bloodhounds fell to 0-15, 0-6 in the CUNYAC.

Maimouna Dabo also had a nice game for York, netting 20 points including four three-pointers, while also dishing out six assists.  Elizabeth Padilla paced York with 17 points and four assists.  Wickham netted 30+ points for the second straight contest and has bested her career-high four times this season.

Both teams shot 41 percent and the rebounding margin was nearly even, however the Lady Cardinals were able to get the easy win thanks to the 34 turnovers they forced.  The Lady Cardinals turned the 38 John jay turnovers into 38 points.

After going back-and-forth in the early going, York began to pull away midway through the first half after an 8-0 run gave them a 28-17 advantage with 9:11 to play in the half. York continued to tack on to the lead and went up by 19, (46-27) at halftime.  The first-half deficit would be too much for the Blood hounds to overcome.

The Bloodhounds were led by Dominique Grice who finished with 24 points and nine boards.  Jessica Lirio added 22 points and Claire Prince finished with 11.

York will visit Hunter College on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
