JAMAICA, NY— The York College men’s and women’s swim teams fell to conference-rival Lehman College Tuesday evening. The men lost by a score of 96-78, while the women fell 116-84. 

 

Women’s Recap

Despite the loss, freshman Sara Pazmino turned in another big night for York, winning both the 50-freestyle and the 100-breaststroke.  Averie Mohammed was also a winner for the Lady Cardinals, taking first place in the 100-freestyle.   Mohammed also added a second place finish in the 200-IM.  Christie Montavlo (200-free), Ayanna Bennett (50-free), Yajaira Saavedra (100-fly) and Dawn Davis (100-back/ 100-breast) each added second-place finishes. 

 

Men’s Recap

Aaron Bennett won two events for York, taking the 50-freestyle and the 100-breaststroke.  Kyle Gomes added a first-place finish in the 400-freestyle. James Kearney (100-free) and Juan Recinos (200-free) each finished in second place in their respective events.

 

York falls to 1-5, 0-3 in the CUNYAC on the men’s side, while the women drop to 2-8, 0-5 in the CUNYAC. The two teams will return to action this Thursday when they host USMMA and Old Westbury in a tri-meet.

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y— The York College men's and women's swimming teams lost to both the United States Merchant Marine Academy and The College at Old Westbury in a double dual meet Thursday evening.  The women lost by scores of 52-35 and 61-29 to USMMA and Old Westbury respectively.   The men lost by scores of 80-8 to USMMA and 61-14 to Old Westbury.

NEW YORK, N.Y— Averie Mohammed and Alexandra Castro each won a pair of events for the second straight night but it would be enough, as the York College women's swimming team fell to John Jay College by a score of 56-33 in a conference dual meet Tuesday night.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y— The York College men's and women's swimming teams were on the losing end of a meet with conference-rival the College of Staten Island Monday.  The women lost 105-69, while the men lost 91-69.  Despite the loss, the women had a handful of strong individual performances.  Senior Averie Mohammed picked up a pair of victories on the evening, winning the 50-yard freestyle (29.53) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.79). Alexandra Castro also won two events, taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.06) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:53.98).
