Nkrumah, Phillip Lead York at Wesleyan Invitational III

MIDDLETOWN, CT—Alexandra Nkrumah placed in two events, winning one, and Ronel Phillip finished in the top ten in two events to lead the York College men's and women's track and field teams at the Wesleyan Invitational #3 on Saturday afternoon.
Nkrumah won the 800-meter dash (2:23.81) besting a field of 24 runners, while also earning a third place finish in the 55m hurdles (9.10). Phillip finished in eighth place in the 200-meter dash (23.37) and placed fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.80).
Other notable finishes include Denecia Gardner who placed eighth in the 55 meter dash (7.91) and Lance Fleming, who was ninth in the 600-meter dash (1:28.00). In addition, Allana Wilson was ninth in the women's 400-meter dash (1:05.02).
In addition, four women, Taneisha Renaud, Wendella Rankin, Alexis Schloss and Chianne Ashman each competed in the Colgate Women's Game on the same day. All four, along with Nrkumah, have qualified for the finals at Madison Square Garden on January 30th.
