Lady Cardinals Stifle City Tech; Win 62-33

– The York College women’s basketball team forced 30 turnovers and held City Tech to just 21 percent shooting, and defeated the Yellow Jackets 62-33 in a CUNY Athletic Conference contest Friday evening.

 

With the win, the Lady Cardinals even up their record at 10-10 and improve to 5-4 in the CUNYAC.  City Tech falls to 1-18, 3-16 in the CUNYAC.   Junior Maimouna Dabo led all scorers with 19 points and Kadisha Wickham recorded another double-double scoring 13 points and pulling down 19 rebounds, while also making three steals.  #Elizabeth Padilla# paced York with ten points. In addition, the Lady Cardinals defense held all City Tech players to single digits in points. 

 

The game was close for most of the first half, with the Lady Cardinals taking a modest 26-20 lead into halftime.  However, in the second half York really took control of the game, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 36-13.  York opened the half with a 17-4 run which extended its lead to 19 points (43-24).  That put the game out of reach early in the second half.

 

York will now host the College of Staten Island on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
