Wickham Named to CUNYAC First-Team All Stars

NEW YORK, NYYork College sophomore Kadisha Wickham has been named to the 2009-10 Women’s Basketball CUNY Athletic Conference First-Team All Stars.  The awards were announced at the Water Club in New York City Thursday afternoon.

 

Wickham, a center, had a breakout season for the Lady Cardinals.  The sophomore ranked second in the conference in points per game (18.7), third in rebounding (12.7 rpg), ninth in field goal percentage (.478) and first in steals (4.1 per game).  She also ranks among the nation’s elite and currently is 23rd in the nation in scoring, 12th in rebounds and 16th in steals. 

 

In addition, Wickham led York to its first winning season since the 2000-01 year.  The Lady Cardinals finished with a record of 13-11, 8-5 in the CUNYAC and will be the fifth seed in the CUNYAC playoffs this weekend.  York will visit the College of Staten Island on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.  Should they advance they will take on the winner of Baruch College and Medgar Evers College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
