Francisco Leads York in Sweep of Medgar Evers

JAMAICA, NY— Sophomore Brian Francisco recorded nine kills, three aces and had a hitting percentage of .533 to lead the York College men’s volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-10, 30-12, 30-25) win over conference-rival Medgar Evers College
After winning the first two sets easily, York battled in the third set as the Cougars stayed within a few points the entire match. However, York was able to hold the Cougars off and take the match in three sets.
Also contributing for York was, reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, Arturo Cabrera Jr. who had eight kills and four aces. Bryan Williams added six kills and two blocks and Alex Niles had seven Kills. Aruni Piantini had 16 assists, while Kenan Kajtezovic had 11 assists. Medgar Evers was led by Jeff Campbell with five kills.
With the win, York improves to 5-3, 1-0 in the CUNYAC, while Medgar Evers falls to 0-2, 0-1 in the CUNYAC. York will host a CUNYAC multi-match this Saturday. The Cardinals will take on City Tech at 11:00 am and CCNY at 3:00 p.m.
