JAMAICA, NY— The York College men’s basketball team has advanced to the 2010 CUNYAC/ Con Edison Basketball Championship!  York, the top seed and the regular season champion, will face off against rival Brooklyn College, the #2 seed and the defending CUNYAC Champion, on Saturday, February 27 at 5:00 p.m. at the Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of City College.

York (21-6) squeezed by Hunter College, 88-84, in its semi-final match-up, while Brooklyn College (21-6) needed overtime to dispense of Baruch College, 82-77, on Tuesday.  The two teams have already met twice this season, with York winning both match-ups by just one point.

Tickets to the event are FREE and can be picked up at the athletics office, located in the Health & Physical Education building.  A fan bus will also be provided for fans seeking transportation to the game.  There are only 60 spots available on the bus, so fans must sign up for a seat at the athletics office.  Tickets and a seat on the bus are FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE.  The bus will leave promptly at 4:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear RED to the event.

If you can’t make it out to the game, you can still follow from home with live stats.  Just click on the link just before the start of the game.  The game will also be re-broadcast on CUNY TV on Sunday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m.  D3hoops.com will also do a broadcast of the game.  You can listen online by going to www.d3hoops.com

JAMAICA, NY— The York College men's basketball team won a wild contest with conference-rival Lehman College on Friday evening by a score 74-70.

With the score tied at 70-70 with Lehman holding for a final shot, the Lightning's Phil Ductan had his shot blocked by York's Shamir Wilkinson.  Wilkinson was fouled after coming down with the rebound with just 0.5 seconds left in the game.  Lehman did not agree with the call and a pair of arguments by a Lehman player and its head coach resulted in a pair of technical fouls that gave Cardinals four free throws in addition to the original two.  York hit four of the six shots to seal the game.
