Women’s Swimming Earns Fifth Place Finish at CUNYAC Championships

BRONX, NY— The York College women's swim team finished fifth overall after three days of competition at the CUNY Athletic Conference Swimming Championships held at Lehman College this weekend.

 

The women from Baruch College took the championship tallying 1,044 points, which was well ahead of Hunter College's 698 points. Lehman was third (453 points) and the College of Staten Island was fourth (453 points). York accumulated 385 points and John Jay rounded out the scoring with 299 points.  Jessica Panaherrera of Baruch College was named the tournament's Most Valuable Swimmer.

 

York freshman Sara Pazmino led York with a bronze medal in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.76) on day two and a bronze medal in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:53.82) on day three.   After winning a bronze in the 50-meter dash on day one, Averie Mohammed also added a seventh place finish in the 100-freestyle (1:03.16) and a seventh place finish in the 200-freestyle (2:23.61).  In addition, Dawn Davis placed seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:06.48).
