York Drops Season-Opening Doubleheader to NC Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, NC— The York College softball team dropped its season-opening doubleheader Saturday afternoon, falling to North Carolina Wesleyan 10-0 and 11-0 respectively. 

 

The Lady Cardinals only scratched out three hits as their offense was stifled by a pair of NC Wesleyan hurlers.  York was also done in by poor fielding, committing nine errors combined in the two contests.

 

Wesleyan was led by Meredith Mills who collected four hits, two doubles and six-RBI’s in the two games. For York, Sophomore Geneva Faulk picked up two of the three hits on the day. 

 

York (0-2) will be idle until March 21, when they visit Polytechnic at noon.

QUEENS, NY – Freshman pitcher Thessaly Belizario threw a no-hitter in both ends of a doubleheader, slammed two home runs, including a grand slam, and collected eight RBI’s to lead the York College softball team to wins of 23-0 and 13-1 over conference-rival City Tech on Thursday afternoon.

PURCHASE, NY— The York College softball team pounded out a combined 30 hits and 40 runs and Thessaly Belizario tossed a no-hitter in game one en route to a sweep of the College of New Rochelle Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Cardinals took game one by a score of 22-0 and won game two 18-3.
