JAMAICA, NY – The York College men’s tennis team dropped a tight match to the City College of New York, losing 5-4 in a CUNY Athletic Conference contest on Friday afternoon.
Chalrton Distin and Erick Giron won at fifth and sixth singles respectively and paired up at third doubles to win as well. However, the only other member of the team who could pick up a victory was Akins Simon, who won 6-1, 6-2 at fourth singles.
York came up just short in a couple matches, which would have made the difference in the final outcome. Ayman Busat and Simon lost a tough match at first doubles by a 9-7 score and Hugo D’Oliveira fell in three sets at third singles, losing 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
With the loss, York drops to 5-6, 3-4 in the CUNYAC, while CCNY improves to 6-5, 3-4 in the CUNYAC. The Cardinals will host Yeshiva on Sunday at noon.
