York to Take on John Jay in CUNYAC Tennis Quarterfinals
Ayman Busat

JAMAICA, NY – The pairings for the upcoming 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference men’s tennis championships have been announced and York College—the sixth seed—will take on third-seeded John Jay College on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 pm at the USTA National Tennis Center.

The Cardinals (5-9, 3-5 CUNYAC) will be looking for the upset against the Bloodhounds.  John Jay (9-2, 6-2 CUNYAC) took the regular season meeting 6-3 back on April 6th.

York will need contributions from its top player Ayman Busat if they want to pull off the upset win.  Busat, a freshman, has a bright future ahead of him at York and has performed well against the other top players in the conference.  Also having a nice freshman year is Charlton Distin, who has the top record for the Cardinals this season, holding a 7-7 mark in singles play.

In the other quarterfinal match-ups, top-seeded Staten Island will host the eighth seed Lehman College, #2 Hunter will entertain #7 Brooklyn College and fourth-seeded Baruch College will battle CCNY.

The winners will move on to the semi-finals on Tuesday, which will be held at the United States National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.
