JAMAICA, NY— The 2010-11 York College Athletics season gets underway this week. York will look to build off one of its most successful seasons ever, a year which saw the Cardinals capture five CUNYAC Championship and finish third in the CUNYAC Commissioners Cup.
Starting things off will be the defending CUNYAC champion men’s soccer team. The Cardinals will visit SUNY Old Westbury on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Later in the week, they will host their home opener against Trine University (IN) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
York College will hold its annual Athletics Awards Dinner on Monday, May 24, 2010 in the gymnasium in the Health and Physical Education Building, beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m. The dinner is open to all student-athletes and will feature awards and prizes.
If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Jessica Cherry by calling 718-262-5115.
A very important referendum is being included with the student government elections that are going on now. Please help support athletics by voting yes for the referendum. This money will help to provide better facilities and newer equipment for the York athletics program, which in turn will help the program continue to grow.
If you are a student-athlete, please be sure to vote yes and to pass the word along to your peers. Voting Ends on Friday, April 30th.
The CUNY Athletic Conference wants to know what your favorite moment of the year is. Be sure to send in your favorite York athletics moment of 2009 to cunyathleticconference@yahoo.com.
At random, the CUNYAC will choose several responses and send those people free t-shirts!
