Women's Tennis Blanked by St. Joseph's

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women’s tennis team was shutout, 9-0, by St. Joseph’s (LI) College in the Lady Cardinals first match of the 2010 season on Thursday afternoon.

 

The Lady Cardinals could not muster much of a threat against the Golden Eagles.  Leading the way for St. Joseph’s was Terrie Leonard, who earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over York’s Nicole Jones at first singles.  Leonard also earned an 8-4 victory in doubles play with teammate Katie Soeder over Jones and Allana Wilson. 

 

York, 0-1, will take on Hunter College on Wednesday, September 8 at home.

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women's tennis team won a long and hard-fought match against Baruch College in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC/ Hospital for Special Surgery Women's Tennis Championships Thursday afternoon.  The Cardinals needed 4:10 and two sets of courts to complete the match, but in the end York came out on top 5-3.

JAMAICA, NY— The seeding for the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference/ Hospital for Special Surgery Women's Tennis Championships have been announced and York College has earned the #3 seed and will host sixth-seeded Baruch College in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, October 19 at 3:30 p.m. on the York College tennis courts.
