Three Cardinals Earn CUNYAC Women’s Tennis All-Star Honors

Kunchok, Chanoine and Ko Named to Team

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women's tennis team capped off a strong 2011 season as three members of the team were named to the 2011 CUNY Athletic Conference All-Star Team.  Amba Chanoine and Tenzin Kunchok earned first-team selections, while Anna Ko was a second-team selection.

Chanoine, who played primarily at third singles, had the second most wins on the team in singles play (eight), while also picking up eight wins in doubles play.

Kunchok, who played primarily sixth singles, dominated the flight all season, sporting a 9-1 record, with her only blemish coming in a non-conference contest against Rutgers-Newark.  She performed very well in doubles play with fellow all-star Anna Ko.  The two had a record of 5-1 when playing together.  Overall, Kunchok was 7-3 in doubles play this season.

Ko, who split time between fourth and fifth singles, earned a 6-3 record in singles play.  In doubles play her overall record was 6-2.  It is the second consecutive season that Ko has been named an all-star.

The Cardinals finished the 2011 season over the .500 mark for the first time in their three-year history as they sported a 9-8 record.  York lost to eventual champion Hunter College in the semifinals of the CUNYAC Championship.
