Men Place Fifth at CUNYAC Championships; Women Finish Seventh
RESULTS
BRONX, NY—The York College men's cross country team closed out the 2011 season with a fifth place finish at the CUNY Athletic Conference/ U.S. Army Cross Country Championships Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, the women's team placed seventh overall.
Leading the way once again for York was Tarik Weekes who place ninth overall and seventh among senior colleges, as he ran the 8k race at Van Cortlandt Park in a time of 29:49. Jason Shaw (33:10) placed 22
nd among senior colleges, Anthony Parsons was 24
th (33:42) and Christopher Peguerro was 28
th (34:04). Rinaldy Gomez closed out the scoring for York, finishing 36
th in a time of 37:19.
Winning the race overall was Hunter's Christopher Guerrero who finished in a time of 27:47. The Hawks placed four runners in the top ten en route to winning their third straight CUNYAC title.
For the women, York was led by Johanne Accime who placed 26
th overall in a time of 31:07 for the 6k race.
Joviette Frederick came in shortly after her in 34
th place with a time of 31:59.
Ashley Armand of Bronx Community College dominated the women's race, running the course in a time of 24:40. Hunter, meanwhile, placed all five of its runners in the top seven spots and easily won the team championship.
