TROY, N.Y.—York College junior Tarik Weekes placed fifth in the 400-meter dash Friday at the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY.

The York College Athletic Department will have its 37th annual Athletic Awards Dinner on May 25, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the York College Gymnasium. 
 
At the dinner, awards for male and female Athlete, Rookie and Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be handed out, as well as MVPs for each team.  Admission is free for student-athletes and $20 for all guests.

QUEENS, N.Y.— York College three-sport student-athlete Vanessa Rivera has been named one of 29 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Honorable Mention Scholar Athletes for the 2011-12 School Year.
 
Rivera will be honored at the 26th Annual Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete Dinner on May 16 at 6:00 p.m. at Queens College.

RANDALL'S ISLAND, N.Y.— The York College men's track and field team got contributions from a number of competitors and had a strong showing at the 2012 CUNY Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing third overall.  The Cardinals finished with 88 points, finishing behind runner-up Medgar Evers College (175 points) and champion CCNY (195).

Women's soccer, basketball and softball player Vanessa Rivera was the latest guest to be interviewed on the Cardinals Spotlight radio show on Thursday.  The scholar-athlete stopped by to talk about how she manages to balance three sports with a demanding academic schedule and married life.  Later hosts John Scarinci and Brandon Nix discussed the off-season plans for the New York Knicks, the Mariano Rivera injury and the surprising start for the New York Mets.

Brandon Nix, co-host of the Cardinals' Spotlight, hosted a special edition yesterday as he previewed the 7th Annual Old School vs. New School (Students vs. Faculty/ Staff) Basketball game.  Nix had a few players who are competing in the game stop by to preview the contest, which will be held on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.

JAMAICA, NY –  York College junior men's tennis player Ayman Busat took home a pair of awards following the announcement of the 2012 CUNY Athletic Conference Men's Tennis All-Stars.  Busat was named a Second-Team All-Star, in addition to winning the Sportsmanship Award for the third consecutive season.
