Women’s Track and Field Finish Fourth at CTC Championships

MIDDLETOWN, CT—The York College women's indoor track and field team made an impressive showing at the highly-competitive CTC Championships Saturday, finishing fourth overall. Junior Chianne Ashman led York with a first place finish in the 55-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 7.12. The time is just .02 off the pace for an automatic NCAA qualifying time.
Kadisha Wickham also took first in the 200-meter dash (25.44), besting a field of 30 competitors. Ashman came right in behind Wickham in second place with a time of 26.12. In addition, Alexandra Nkrumah made a strong showing in two events, winning the 800-meter dash in a time of 2:23.78 and placing sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.01.
In the distance events, Alexis Schloss (6:00.78) and Taneisha Renaud (6:01.38) came in ninth and tenth place respectively in the one mile run.
In the relay events, the Lady Cardinals took first place in the 4 x 400 relay. The team of Nkrumah, Ashman, Wickham and Denecia Gardiner ran the race in a time of (4:04.74). The team of Renaud, Schloss, Antoinette Smile and Allana Wilson added a second place finish in the distance medley relay (13:42. 48)
York will compete at the CUNYAC Championships on Sunday, February 28th at 4:00 p.m.
