Wickham Selected to ECAC Second Team and D3hoops.com Third Team
Kadisha Wickham

NEW YORK, NYYork College sophomore Kadisha Wickham has been honored with a pair of post-season awards Wednesday.  Wickham was named to the 2009-10 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s Basketball Metro Division Second Team and the D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Third Team.   

 

Wickham, a center, had a breakout season for the Lady Cardinals.  The sophomore ranked second in the conference in points per game (18.5), third in rebounding (12.6 rpg), seventh in field goal percentage (.478) and first in steals (4.0 per game).  She also ranked among the nation’s elite finishing 36th in the nation in scoring, 12th in rebounds and sixth in steals. 

 

In addition, Wickham led York to its first winning season since the 2000-01 year.  The Lady Cardinals finished with a record of 13-12, 8-5 in the CUNYAC.

D3hoops.com is the leading source for Division III basketball information. Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, who were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 676 players nominated nationwide, a new high. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for 10 players in their region. SID’s voted for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players, to ensure balance.

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women's basketball team cruised to a 70-41 victory over Medgar Evers College on Friday night. 
 
York forced 48 turnovers, which resulted in 46 York points and held the Cougars to just 29 percent shooting on the night.   On offense, York shot a strong 46 percent from the field.
