Agu and Wickham Earn CUNYAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors
JAMAICA, NY— York College continues to dominate the CUNYAC Player of the Week awards, sweeping the honors for the third straight week. Sophomore Kadisha Wickham was named Female Athlete of the Week, while Chinedu Agu was named Male Athlete of the Week.
The CUNYAC Most Valuable Performer at the 2010 Indoor Track & Field Championships, Kadisha Wickham, is on pace to keep the accolades coming during the outdoor season. Last week, in a pair of home developmental meets with City Tech and Medgar Evers, the 5'11" sophomore from Brooklyn took the top spot in each of her four races. She ran both the 400 Meter Hurdles (1:09.94) and a leg of the Cardinals' 4x100 Meter Relay (50.53) in each meet. Next weekend, the York squads will compete at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island in the New York Relays. Icahn will also be the site of the CUNYAC Outdoor Championships next month.
Chinedu Agu is named CUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week once again as he continues to improve all season long for the Cardinals. Last week, in the pair of York College Developmental Meets with City Tech and Medgar Evers, the sophomore sprinter from Jamaica took the top spot in each of his four races. On April 7, during the break, he finished first in the 400 Meter Dash (50.59) and the 400 Meter Hurdles (1:00.23). Three days later, the Floral ParkHigh School graduate also won the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.49.
York will run at the New York Relays on April 16-18.
