Wickham Named to All-Met D-III Women's Team

JAMAICA, NYYork College sophomore Kadisha Wickham has been named to the All-Metropolitan Division III Women’s College Basketball Second Team by the National Invitational Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association.  

 

Wickham, a center, had a breakout season for the Lady Cardinals during the 2009-10 season.  The sophomore ranked second in the conference in points per game (18.5), third in rebounding (12.6 rpg), ninth in field goal percentage (.483) and first in steals (4.0 per game).  Wickham also finished the season among the nation’s elite, ranking seventh in the country in steals, 12th in rebounding and 35th in points per game. 

 

In addition, Wickham led York to its first winning season since the 2000-01 year.  The Lady Cardinals finished with a record of 13-12, 8-5 in the CUNYAC and earned the fifth seed in the CUNYAC playoffs. York fell to the College of Staten Island in the quarterfinals. 

 

Kimberley Blakney of Farmingdale State was named the Player of the Year and Michelle Sharp of Kean University was named Coach of the Year.

 

Wickham will be honored at the 77th Annual NIT/ MBWA Awards Dinner at the Westchester Marriot in Tarrytown, NY on April 21st.

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women's basketball team cruised to a 70-41 victory over Medgar Evers College on Friday night. 
 
York forced 48 turnovers, which resulted in 46 York points and held the Cougars to just 29 percent shooting on the night.   On offense, York shot a strong 46 percent from the field.
