Softball to Battle Hunter in CUNYAC Quarterfinals

JAMAICA, NY— For the first time since 2004, the York College softball team has qualified for the CUNY Athletic Conference playoffs.  The Lady Cardinals will take on Hunter College on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Randall’s Island Field #12.

 

Hunter enters the tournament as the third seed and holds a record of 16-14, 10-4 in the CUNYAC. York is the sixth seed in the tournament with a record of 8-20, 4-10 in the CUNYAC.  The other quarterfinal match-up will feature #4 John Jay College against #5 Brooklyn College.


The winner of the Hunter/ York game will take on second-seeded College of Staten Island, while the John Jay/ Brooklyn winner will battle Baruch College in the semi-finals.  CSI and Baruch each received first-round byes. 

 

The Hawks got the best of the Lady Cardinals in their previous meeting during the regular season, winning 9-1 and 14-0 in a doubleheader on April 28th.

PURCHASE, NY— The York College softball team closed the 2011 season on a high note as they routed the College of New Rochelle in a pair of games Friday afternoon, winning game one by a score of 9-1 and game two 23-6.

BRONXVILLE, NY— The York College softball team picked up a pair of victories on Friday afternoon, as they routed Sarah Lawrence College by scores of 9-1 and 10-1.  York pitcher Michelle Deleon pitched both games to lead York to the sweep.

Today's scheduled softball game against Baruch College has once again been postponed.  The makeup date will be this Saturday, April 30 at 3:00 p.m.  However, the game will be played at the College of Staten Island.

The game against Brooklyn College which was originally slated for this Saturday has been postponed.  There is no word yet on if that game will be made up.
