JAMAICA, NY— The 2010-11 York College Athletics season gets underway this week. York will look to build off one of its most successful seasons ever, a year which saw the Cardinals capture five CUNYAC Championship and finish third in the CUNYAC Commissioners Cup.
Starting things off will be the defending CUNYAC champion men’s soccer team. The Cardinals will visit SUNY Old Westbury on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Later in the week, they will host their home opener against Trine University (IN) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
The women’s volleyball team gets underway on Thursday, when they host William Paterson at 7:00 p.m. in the York College Gymnasium. Meanwhile, the women’s tennis team also opens up play on Thursday, when they host St. Joseph’s College at 3:30 p.m.
Cross country will have to wait a week to get things started. Their first meet will be at the Baruch College Invitational on Sunday, September 12 at 10:00 am at Van Cortlandt Park.
The gymnasium is located in the Health and Physical Education building and the soccer field and tennis courts are located across the street on the corner of 160th Street and Liberty Avenue.
