Men’s Soccer Wins Sportsmanship Award
JAMAICA, NY— The New York Metro Chapter of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) has recognized the York College men's soccer team as the recipient of their Sportsmanship Award for 2011.
Each year, officials evaluate the schools they work at for sportsmanship attributes and York College was selected as the winner.
The National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) is an organization of more than 5,000 soccer officials, which trains, certifies and provides qualified soccer referees for the college soccer community throughout the country. The mission of NISOA is to assist in the development of soccer as a major sport in the United States and to improve the quality of officiating at the college and high school levels.
The Cardinals got off to a slow start in 2011 but finished strong, winning seven of nine games before falling to Baruch College in the CUNY Athletic Conference semifinals. They finished the season with a record of 7-12.
