Geffard Named CUNYAC Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week
JAMAICA, N.Y.— York College freshman outside hitter, Edner Junior Geffrard has earned the first CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year Award for the 2012 season.
Geffrard started the first six games of the season with some impressive numbers. In a five-set win over NYU-Polytechnic on January 30, Geffard slammed 20 kills. In a sweep over Yeshiva on February 2, he picked up 13 kills on just 21 attempts for a hitting percentage of .524.
On February 3, Geffard once again went off on NYU-Polytechnic, this time picking up 18 kills. Then on Saturday he capped off the week with eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage against John Jay College.
