HACKENSACK, N.J. The York College men's and women's indoor track and field teams performed well in their season-opening meet at the Fairleigh
Dickinson University Knights Classic on Sunday.
The Cardinals held their own while competing against a number of NCAA Division I Schools. The top finish for York came on the men's side, where freshman
Roshane Wright placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.23. In the same race, sophomore
Shaquille Hodge finished sixth with a time of 53.17. Hodge also placed seventh in a large field of 41 runners in the 55-meter dash. He finished with a time of 6.72.
In the men's 1,000 meter run,
Ajani Kerr earned sixth place with a time of 2:47.41.
In the long jump,
Olabimpe M. Ologundudu was seventh with a distance of 20' 2.50," while his teammate
Michael Tomlin was ninth (19'6.75"). Tomlin also placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.55 meters. In the shot put,
Nosa Edionwe was ninth with a toss of 32' 5."
For the women, Kemillia John led the way with a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter run (1:07.59) and a tenth-place finish in the 600-meter run (1:56.30). Diana Cuevas was 11th in the 600-meters in 2:01.00. In the 55-meter dash, Shanice T. Brown placed ninth out of 28 runners with a time of 7.76.
York will return to action on December 28 when they run at the Armory Sprint Night in New York City.
